As promised, I am back with our 6th individual Olympic Champion. Yes, he is none other than boxing champion Vijender Singh. Boxing is such a technical game. It is quite challenging in terms of the scoring points. There are so many rules and regulations and usually the bouts lasts for few minutes. For those few minutes of matches, a boxer has to work hard for years.
Vijender Singh made India proud by winning the first ever individual medal in Boxing. He won Bronze medal in 2008 at Beijing Olympics.

Vijender participated in the Middleweight boxing category. A maximum of 75 kilograms of body weight is allowed in middleweight category. Vijender was up with his heavy punches in all 4 rounds of this quarterfinal match. He defeated Carlos Góngora of Ecuador by 9–4. By winning this match Vijender assured a medal and went in to the seminal but unfortunately he lost and thus had to satisfy with the Bronze. The history was made since Vijender was the first Individual to win an Olympic Bronze in Boxing for India.
A Life Of The Champion
Boxing is such a sport in which you have to be well disciplined and extremely focused while in the ring. Vijender Singh has these qualities and he thus proved his mettle by winning a medal for India. His childhood heroes were Sylvester Stallone and Muhammad Ali.
This guy from Haryana has come a long way. When he turned pro there were quite a speculation. He has been recently crowned as Asia – pacific Champion.
